Welcome to The Southern Boubou

In 2008 Sandra and Desmond Kinghorn retired to the small town of Franskraal along the Southern Coast. Sandra has fallen in love with a local bird called the Southern Boubou and has named their self-catering unit in Franskraal after this magnificent species.

After a few years of admiring the beauty of the area they decided that they had to share it with visitors to Franskraal, Gansbaai and the Overstrand. So they decided to open a 2 bedroomed self-catering unit for visitors to stay and admire the beauty that the area has to offer for themselves.

Now they have a perfectly situated location for this. Franskraal is a quaint seaside village near the “Big 2 Town” Gansbaai named after the Southern Right Whales and Great Whites.¬† Just A short walk down to the sea, the famous Dyer Island can be viewed from the shore and a little further down the coast the Uilenkraal beach can be accessed. There are numerous grocery shops near Franskraal in Gansbaai itself where you can get all your food and beverage requirements needed.

Our accomodation in Franskraal sleeps up to 5 people and includes a balcony with a braai area. Also included is a open plan kitchen which includes a large fridge/freezer, microwave, 2 plate hob and a convection oven. There is also a dining area and access to full DSTV. Unfortunately there is a strict no smoking and no pet policy. Please also note that the owners live downstairs in a private section of the property.

We hope to see you soon and welcome you to a marvellous stay with us in Franskraal.
